Flatulence Remedies - Physical Acticities Among the most important consequences of flatulence are irritation to the intestines and nervous system, causing digestive disorders, pain in the belly, a feeling of oppression in the abdomen, and in some cases even a headache. These symptoms may be alieviated by engaging in the following physical activities: 1) Use a rocking chair. It has been proved that rocking in a chair relieves the accumulation of gas. 2) Lying on your back, position yourself face up, with your knees bent to the stomach, and embracing your lower legs with your arms. Hold the position five minutes, relax. 3) Engage in more physical activity. Doing physical activities such as walking or aerobic activity stimulates intestinal mobility and helps to break down large bubbles of gas. 4) If you have abdominal pain and want to expel the flatus trapped in your colon (i.e., pass gas, break wind, or fart), sit on the floor with your knees toward your chest and feet slightly off the ground. Try to balance your body while tilting your pelvis forward then backward. 5) Keep calm. Emotional stress can play an important role in worsening the problem of flatulence. If you eat under emotional stress, the muscles of the abdomen are tense and the result is the production of more gas, causing painful spasms.
